Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) Program
The use of digital technologies is a mandated component of the Victorian Curriculum F–10. Safe and appropriate use of tools such as the internet, apps, computers, and tablets provides students with rich opportunities to support learning and development in a variety of ways. Increased access to technology enables interactive, collaborative, personalised, and transformative learning experiences.
At Bellaire Primary School, we recognise technology as a powerful tool that, when used appropriately, enhances learning. We believe in a balanced approach, integrating technology into the curriculum where it is relevant and beneficial to learning outcomes. While we encourage the use of digital devices to enrich education, we remain mindful of screen time and prioritise activities that promote students’ overall well-being and holistic development.
Our aim is to foster critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration in the digital age. Importantly, technology does not diminish the role of the teacher—it transforms it, enabling teachers to act as facilitators of learning rather than solely as directors.
Prep – Year 2
School-Owned Devices
For students in Prep–2 and some Specialist classes, the school provides iPads for educational use. These devices are allocated to each class for small group work or can be borrowed for class-wide activities as needed. This ensures all students have access to digital technologies, supporting their learning and development from an early age.
Years 3 – 6
Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) Program
We operate a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program for students in Years 3–6, requiring each student to bring their own purchased or leased iPad to school daily. Teachers plan with the specific intent that every child has an iPad, though this does not mean technology is used constantly. It is integrated on a needs basis to support learning outcomes.
We encourage families to purchase their iPad through the JB HiFi BYOD Education Portal for educational discounts:
