A Message From The Principal
We are more than half way through Term 1. Apart from our little ‘hiccup’ with the ‘circuit breaker lockdown’ it has been wonderful to have all the students at school and enjoying a normal routine.
TENNIS
We would like to congratulate our students who attended the tennis tournament last Friday. They all did a wonderful job, representing our school with pride. Two of our students have made it through to the next level – we congratulate them on their efforts.
LONG WEEKEND
This weekend is the Labour Day long weekend. Monday is a public holiday. There is no school on Monday. Hopefully we will get to enjoy some sunshine!
SCHOOL UNIFORM
Please remember that we have a School Uniform Policy. We have noticed that some students are wearing clothes that are not on our uniform list. We would like to highlight these aspects of our policy –
- White socks should be worn
- For safety reasons watches and small studs/sleepers are the only jewellery permitted.
- Long hair must be tied back. Once again this is for safety reasons and students will be prompted to tie their hair up.
SHADE SAIL
We are extremely excited that our new shade sail has been installed over our Prep and Middle Playground. It looks amazing and will be added protection for our students.
SCHOOL LEADERS – STUDENT LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE
On Friday 12th March, our School’s Student Leadership Team consisting of School Captains, Vice Captains as well as House Captains and Vice Captains will be participating in the Student Leadership Conference online via Webex. They will be assisted on the day by Mr Normington. It is a fantastic opportunity for our student leaders to learn new skills that they can bring back and implement here at Bellaire. This is an exciting opportunity for these students and we look forward to them sharing their learning and experience.
MISS LUDBROOK’S WEDDING
As this is the last newsletter prior to Miss Ludbrook’s wedding we would like to wish her all the very best for her wedding on Saturday 13th March.
PREP TOURS
Due to Covid restrictions we are undertaking a number of Prep tours in a variety of ways. These are occurring throughout March. Day tours are limited however we also have an evening tour on Monday 15th March at 6pm. We have sent out information to our local kindergartens and have placed this information on our website however if you know of anyone who would be interested please get them to contact our front office
BEFORE SCHOOL – Please note our yard is not supervised before 8.45am.
There are a number of students that are arriving to school prior to 8.45am. If you need to drop your child to school prior to 8.45am please make use of our Before School Care facilities. The school yard is not supervised prior to 8.45am and we wish to ensure that all students are safe and cared for.
SCHOOL COUNCIL NOMINATIONS
Our School Council nominations close at 4pm today (Friday 5th March). If we have more nominations than places available we will hold a ballot. More information regarding this will be sent out if this is required.
SCHOOL COUNCIL UPDATE
- Building works – we are well underway with the building works process. We have been working with the VSBA and will hopefully be able to appoint and announce the architect for the job shortly.
- GRANTS – we are seeking volunteers to assist us with locating and writing grant applications to assist the school. Please contact the office if you are able to assist.
CARS AROUND THE SCHOOL
There have been a few concerns around the speed in which cars travel in Cuthbert Ave and then into Larcombe Street. We encourage everyone to be aware of the speed limit and the number of people who move around the streets, especially at drop off. Please also be aware you can not park in the DROP OFF ZONE. Thank you for your support.
