A Message From the Vice Principal
Can you believe we have already reached the halfway mark of Term 2? Granted, it’s a short term, however time flies when we are fully engaged in teaching and learning! We’ve had lots happening, including: incursions, excursions, sports events, whole-school events… just to name a few. I am proud to see the progress our students continue to make. I would like to acknowledge the hard work of our teachers and support staff who have been tirelessly guiding and nurturing our students. Let us maintain this positive momentum as we head into the second half of the term. As always, I want to express my gratitude to our supportive parent community for your ongoing involvement and collaboration. Together, we create an environment that fosters growth, learning, and success for all our students.
Education Week Open Afternoon (Last Wednesday)
Last week was Education Week and our Open Afternoon held on the Wednesday was a resounding success. It was a pleasure to see so many parents and families come together to engage with their children in the teaching and learning that takes place at our school. Thank you to everyone who attended.
National Walk to School Day
National Walk to School Day took place last Friday. The event kicked off at McDonald Reserve, where students gathered alongside a group of teachers to embark on a collective walk to school. Thanks to Mr Normington, Mr Jull and the Junior School Council for organising this annual event. Events like these foster a sense of community, promotes physical fitness, and reinforces the importance of road safety.
National Simultaneous Story Time
On Wednesday we participated in the National Simultaneous Story Time initiative. This nationwide event aims to promote the importance of reading and literacy among children. Our students had the opportunity to join thousands of other children across the country in listening to a special story read aloud simultaneously. It is always a fantastic annual experience for our students.
National Reconciliation Week (Next Week)
Next week is National Reconciliation Week, an important occasion in our calendar. This week allows us to reflect on our shared histories, cultures, and achievements and to explore the journey to a reconciled Australia. Teachers have planned various activities and discussions throughout the week to deepen our understanding and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures. I encourage parents and carers to engage in conversations with their children at home, supporting the values of reconciliation.
Student Achievement
Congratulations to Toby V from 3BL. Toby recently competed at a national breakdance event in Sydney, placing Top 4 in 2 categories. Way to go Toby!
Wishing you all a wonderful fortnight ahead.

Prep and Grade 6 Buddies – Cow Sculpture Painting
On Tuesday 23rd May, the Grade 6 students helped their Prep buddies to complete their contribution to our fabulous Cow sculpture. The cow is progressing wonderfully with most classes having added small features to the Grade 6’s design. The Prep students completed a variety of buddy Art activities during the session as well as learning how to use a Posca pen to complete their decorations. The Grade 6s and I look forward to revealing the finished Cow sculpture later this Term.
