A Message From The Principal

We have had some lovely weather over the last week (and some not so good!). We had a bit of an issue with plumbing, it has been fixed now. Thank you for your patience on Tuesday and Wednesday regarding entering and exciting the grounds.

It has been a busy term so far and there is still a lot happening in the last five weeks of term 3.

COMING UP!

Monday 15th – Wednesday 17th August – Year 5 Camp

Friday 19th August – Book Week Dress Up – Prep – 2 Parade, parents can attend, 9.10am

Wednesday 24th August – Curriculum Day (no students)

Tuesday 6th September – School Concert

Thursday 15th September – Last day of Term 3 for students

Friday 16th September – Student Free Day (no students)

SCHOOL CONCERT TICKET INFORMATION

We are excited to announce that our school concert tickets will go on sale on MONDAY 10am (15th August). These tickets will be sold via The Arena (please see link attached) and seats will be allocated at this time.

https://tickets.geelongaustralia.com.au/event/bellaire-school-concert-22022

Our night session will be limited to TWO TICKETS per family due to the capacity of The Arena, and in fairness to all families. We ask you to please be understanding and fair to all families in the school. We will open up the tickets for two weeks for TWO TICKETS per family and then open up any remaining tickets to all. Tickets to our night session will be $20.

In order to accommodate for as many families and friends as possible we are introducing an exciting opportunity. We are opening our full-dress DAY rehearsal to family and friends. Tickets will be available at a discounted price, $10 per ticket, and families will be able to watch the full-dress rehearsal, in order and with our comperes running the day. You may see the students go through their items more than once and it will not be as polished and fluent as the night session, but it will still be a great performance and an opportunity for people who are not able to attend the night session to still experience the concert.

Please find the order for the dress rehearsal and approximate times below. You may wish to only attend for your child/ren and come and go. This is expected and we just ask you to respect the students on stage as you are coming and going during the day session.  We hope that this will be a great experience and opportunity for family and friends to attend due to the restrictions of the tickets at night. Tickets for the dress rehearsal go on sale at the same time as the night tickets.

Dress Rehearsal Schedule – please note these

BOOK WEEK PARADE – Friday 19th 2022

We are excited that we can welcome parents to attend the Prep – 2 Book Week parade on the blue basketball court at 9.10am.

WE WANT OUR PARENTS / CAREGIVERS / GUARDIANS TO TELL US WHAT THEY THINK!

Our school is conducting a survey to find out what parents/caregivers/guardians think of our school.

The Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey is an annual survey offered by the Department of Education and Training that is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour and student engagement.

I encourage all families sent an invitation to participate in this survey this year.  Our school will use the survey results to help inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies.

A random sample of approximately 30 per cent (180 families) of parents / caregivers / guardians have been selected to participate in this year’s survey. They will receive an email via Sentral in the next week.

The Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey will be conducted from Monday 15th August to Friday 16th September.

The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time within the fieldwork period on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones.

The online survey will be available in a range of languages other than English. These include Arabic, Vietnamese, Simplified Chinese, Chin (Hakha), Hindi, Japanese, Somali, Turkish, Punjabi and Greek.

PLANNING FOR 2023

It is that time of year again when schools begin planning class structures and staffing for the following school year. If you have a school aged child about to commence in Foundation for 2023, please ensure you have picked up an enrolment form from our front office.

We have a lovely group of children already enrolled and ready to commence school for next year with a comprehensive transition planned.

For parents of students starting Prep for 2023, you will soon receive more information with all the details of our transition program.

If your child is leaving Bellaire at the end of the school year from any other year level outside of Year 6, please contact the school office to notify us as soon as possible.

FAREWELL MRS THOMAS and BEST OF LUCK

Mrs Krista Thomas has been a member of the Bellaire Primary School staff for over 10 years. Krista has not only worked as a member of our office team but also in the library – the job she loves the most! Krista has been fortunate to obtain a full time roll in running a library in a new, large school in Melton. Krista will be responsible for setting up the library for the staff and students and then running the library. This is a role that we know she will love! Today we held a special morning tea with the staff to farewell Krista. Krista’s last day will be Monday. We wish her all the very best for the future and look forward to her dropping in and saying hi!

Grade 6 Camp Report

Rocking up with 70 kids in the heart of Melbourne… a teacher’s worst nightmare! Many stairs later (196) we dropped off our bags and were on our way, way up to the Eureka Sky Deck. Travelling 9 meters per second. A 360 view of the whole of Melbourne.

The Shrine of Remembrance put life into perspective and inspired all of us. We watched a 3D documentary about how climate change impacts Antartica. Did you know people can see Chinstrap penguin poo from space?

Waking up to kids screaming and bouncing off walls at 6:00am is not ideal thankfully the teachers were loaded up on coffee. After having a delicious hot jam donut at the queen vic market (Mr Canny even snuck some for a midnight snack), we split up into groups. One going to ACMI followed by the MCG. Miss Parlamentas was really competitive, but the students obviously won all the activities. The other group went to the Melbourne Museum as well as the Old Melbourne Gaol, where the cranky judge was really unfair in court.

At the accommodation, we were ready for bed but couldn’t go to sleep without a talent show. The teachers were critical, especially Mr Dobson! We can all agree as soon as we hit the pillow we were out in seconds.

We woke up to the chorus of happy birthday piercing our ears. I think the whole world knew it was Kai’s birthday. The streets were filled with impeccable art work and drawings that symbolised different stories and messages. By the time we were off the train, everyone was ready for a long shower and a good night sleep.

We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who made this camp happen, especially Mrs Budzienny, who spent endless hours planning this camp. Thankyou to Jon, Emily, and Elodie who volunteered their own time to the Grade 6s. Thank you again.
