A Message From The Principal

What a fantastic week it has been with the return of our 3-6 students. There has been wonderful energy around the school with all students who have been excitedly catching up with their friends and transitioning to the ‘new normal’.

I know this has been said many times, but I would like to thank everyone for their support and the way we have all worked together to face the challenges that have come over the past few months. The support the school has felt from our community has been amazing. This was uncharted territory for everyone and the way in which we faced it together has formed wonderful relationships and understanding throughout our community.

The staff and I genuinely appreciate the care that all parents have taken with our request to remain off-site unless absolutely necessarily to enter the office. We understand this is a big change for many, please know that once we hear further information from the Department of Education we will be in touch with a revised plan. Please also know that our teachers are still available to you via Seesaw message, Sentral or over the phone.

We would like to thank everyone for their patience during drop off and pick up times. We understand this is not the ideal situation but it certainly is making a difference to the volume of people around the school at one time. We will continue with our staggered drop off and pick up times for the remainder of the term and, as stated above, will revise the plan when we receive advice from the Department of Education.

Yesterday we sent home information regarding our reporting structure for this semester. Reports will be uploaded into Sentral, and student reflections on Seesaw, on Thursday 25th June. Next term we will be holding Webex parent / teacher interviews. Detailed information regarding these interviews will be sent home prior to the end of term.

With all that has been happening I have failed to publicly acknowledge and congratulate our new School Council President Angela Sormaz. I would also like to thank and acknowledge Steve Knuckey for all his work as our previous School Council President. Steve continues to support our school in the role of School Council Vice President. I look forward to working with Angela, Steve and the rest of the School Council to achieve the best possible outcomes for our students and school community.

Today we will be releasing a virtual assembly on our media platforms. This week the virtual assembly was made entirely by our Student Leaders (with the support of our teachers). They have done a wonderful job and are very talented!

We hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

OSHC

It has been great to welcome back our 3-6 OSHC students this week.

An IMPORTANT REMINDER to families to cancel any bookings not required on the My Family Lounge App. OSHC staff are required to contact parents if booked students are not in attendance, so please cancel your booking to avoid this!

While OSHC places in Term 2 have been fully subsidised by the Government, many families still have Term 1 fees outstanding. OSHC Statements will be issued on Monday, please make sure your account is paid in full by the start of Term 3 so your child can continue to access the OSHC program.

Student Medication Return

An important reminder as students return to school. If you took your child’s medication home at the end of Term 1, please return it with your child ASAP. It can be handed to your child’s teacher or brought to the office before school.

Canteen

The canteen menu for the Special Canteen Day is now available on QKR. Orders close on Monday 22nd June at 9am, and no late orders can be accepted. Orders can only be placed via the QKR App. Please note, the normal canteen menu will NOT be available on this day.

Uniform Shop

Bellaire’s on-site Uniform Shop will remain closed for the remainder of Term 2. Beleza’s Geelong store, at 135 Ryrie Street, will be open Weekdays from 10am to 5pm and Saturday from 10am to 1pm.

Beanies

Bellaire Beanies have SOLD OUT, however we have ordered 100 more with an expected delivery date of mid-July, after the school holidays. Pre-orders can be placed via the QKR app only, and your order will be delivered to your child once the beanies arrive. PLEASE remember to name your child’s beanie, all items of clothing and all other items brought to school.

MLU & SLU Camp Cancellations

MLU and SLU families have been advised that, due to the ongoing COVID19 pandemic and the uncertainly surrounding this, the scheduled 2020 camps for both the SLU and MLU students will not go ahead. This decision is based on the advice and guidelines from the Department of Education and Training (DET).

Library

All library books borrowed in Term 1 are now due back at school. Once returned, books will be kept separate for an appropriate time and then returned to shelves for student borrowing. Please make sure books are kept in a safe place at home, away from toddlers, pets, food and drinks
